James Armstrong is a founder of the Investment Adviser and is one of the three managing partners. He has been involved in over €1.1 billion of UK and European energy transactions and over €475 million portfolio third-party financing at, and prior to founding, Bluefield. James led the IPO of the Bluefield Solar Income Fund (BSIF.L), the London listed solar investment company in 2013 and has been on its UK Holdco board since 2013.

As a managing partner of the Investment Adviser, he has a primary responsibility to drive the strategic direction of Investment Adviser and BSIF. In respect of BSIF, he has worked closely with the independent board and its shareholders since IPO. He sits on the Investment Adviser’s internal investment committee.

He has worked in renewable energy since 2006 and solar energy investment funds since 2007. Prior to founding Bluefield, James was a director at Foresight Group where, from 2006, he was involved in the establishment of its first renewable energy fund and its first specialised solar energy fund. It was at Foresight that James first worked with the other founding partners of Bluefield, Mike Rand and Giovanni Terranova. He has worked in finance since 2002.

James has a BA (Hons) in History from Newcastle University, England.

Bluefield

Clara is on secondment from Bridges Fund Management, where she led the firm’s impact strategy throughout the investment cycle and across all fund types. In addition to growing impact through Bridges’ own funds, Clara led the firm’s research and development efforts to promote the growth of the wider sustainable and impact investment sector.

Prior to Bridges, Clara focused her career on investing in sustainable businesses – most recently on the management team of a healthcare chain in India and Acumen portfolio company. Clara previously worked for Acumen’s Capital Markets team where she played a lead role in designing an innovative investment vehicle and later co-led the Acumen energy portfolio. Before Acumen, Clara worked in Colombia, promoting socially responsible investment.

Clara holds a BA (Hons) in Greats from Oxford University and an MBA from INSEAD.

Jeff Cohen is an Institutional Product Strategist at the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). In his role, Jeff educates and partners with institutional investors and asset owners facilitating dialogue on financially material industry specific ESG topics and metrics for implementation into investment decisions across asset classes. Prior to joining SASB, Jeff consulted private equity and real asset firms on communicating ESG integration and impact outcomes in investment processes to limited partners through reports and marketing collateral. In addition, Jeff was Head of Business Development at Sonen Capital an ESG & Impact dedicated OCIO, where he worked with investors seeking to achieve impact in private markets through various environmental and social themes. Prior to Sonen, Jeff was a Director of Investment Opportunities at Venovate, a Fin-tech platform connecting institutional investors with unique private placement investments, where he conducted due diligence on private equity, real assets, and secondary transactions. Jeff has spent his career working with sophisticated investors at organizations such as Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch, and Gerson Lehrman Group. He holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a BBA from the University of Michigan. Jeff is a CAIA charter holder and Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting Credential Holder.

Isabelle is Deputy CEO and a member of the Executive Committee at SWEN Capital Partners, a European leader in Private Equity, Debt and Infrastructure for institutional and individuals clients. She is in charge of Business Development and ESG.

She launched in 2012 the ESG policy at SWEN Capital Partners both in the private equity and infrastructure investment activity and she is responsible for its implementation. She plays an active role in promoting ESG integration, impact and innovation in the unlisted industry and one of her next main objective is the implementation of the TCFD.

Before joining SWEN Capital Partners, she began her career in 2001 at MAIF,a french mutual insurance company. Claire Curtin joined the PPF investment team as Head of ESG in May 2018 to support the PPF’s ambitions to further develop and implement its Responsible Investment strategy. Claire is responsible for contributing to the management of long-term risks, and to the achievement of long-term sustainable investment returns, by aligning the PPF’s investment portfolio with the consideration of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors. Claire has over 18 years of experience within financial services and ESG research, during which she has built a deep technical understanding of ESG issues across a wide range of asset classes. She was awarded the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation in 2007.

Tomas leads the ESG integration into the investment process at the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. He works closely with investment teams to due diligence and monitor ESG factors across asset classes. He also leads direct engagement with Ontario Teachers’s infrastructure assets and externally with global peers and organizations to promote sustainability in investments. He is a member of GRESB’s Infrastructure Advisory Board.

Tomas joined Ontario Teachers’ Responsible Investing team after 10+ years focused on sustainability, climate change and environmental management across sectors.

The defined-benefit plan, which is fully funded, invests and administers the pensions of the province of Ontario's 327,000 active and retired teachers.

Martin Ewald is a Managing Director in the London office of Allianz Global Investors. He heads the Investment Strategy Team within the Infrastructure Equity department and is Lead Portfolio Manager for Impact Investments.

Martin joined the Infrastructure Equity team of AllianzGI in 2012 as co-head of portfolio management covering renewable energies in Munich. Since 2013, he has been head of investment strategy shaping the strategic direction of the team via the development and implementation of new investment vehicles in the renewable energy and the impact investing space.

Prior to that, Martin worked for Allianz SE as a co-head of the investment team of Allianz Climate Solutions and led investments in the area of renewable energy and carbon worldwide.
Martin holds a seat at the board of the Allianz Renewable Energy Fund II and the Capviva Allianz Renewable Fund. He Co-Chairs the Infrastructure Advisory Committee of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and is a working group member of ISO 14007/14008 establishing standards for the monetary valuation of environmental impacts. Furthermore he is Advisor to the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance, an initiative which aims to design and pilot the next generation of climate finance instruments. Last but not least, Martin contributes to the work of the Climate Finance Leadership Initiative (CFLI), which was established to support the global mobilization of private capital into climate-friendly investment.

Martin holds a Master’s degree with merit in International Management from the University of Exeter and a Master’s degree with merit in Business Administration (Diplom-Kaufmann) from the University of Mannheim. He is an external PhD candidate in Environmental Management and Accounting at the Technical University of Dresden.

Chris brings a wealth of knowledge in infrastructure, developed through extensive experience in both the public and private sector.
Previously, Chris was a Director of Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets in the United Kingdom where he served on the Board of Thames Water and Techem as well as acting as Chairman of Airwave. His additional, recent, private sector experience includes positions held with WestLB AG and Lloyds Banking Group. During his time with these companies, Chris was involved in infrastructure projects in the United States, Europe, Turkey, China, the Ivory Coast and Australia.

Chris also served as head of project finance at Partnerships UK (a joint UK Treasury and privately-owned company, which promoted the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) and Public Private Partnerships (PPP)), with a focus on major infrastructure projects including the Wembley National Stadium and London Underground. He has also advised the Brazilian Government on preparing and executing a PPP program, and co-authored of the UK Government White Paper “Meeting the Investment Challenge” while working in the UK Treasury. Chris also structured major road projects in Israel and South Africa.

Chris was also a founding partner of Hyder Infrastructure Investors in the mid-1990s, one of the early infrastructure equity funds. The fund was involved in financing of projects including Melbourne City Link, the Asian Infrastructure Fund and many United Kingdom public infrastructure projects funded with private capital.

Anders Klinkby is Managing Partner at Klinkby Enge, an independent advisory firm specialized in ESG Due Diligence, ESG data for private assets and consulting on sustainable investing. He founded the company together with Bengt Enge, previously CIO at Norway’s sovereign wealth fund.
Before founding Klinkby Enge, Anders Klinkby was CEO of Danish Investment Association, and held senior positions at ATP and Danske Bank. His educational background is EMBA (CBS), MA (Aarhus University) and Strategy & Strategy Execution (INSEAD).

Brenda Kramer works as Senior Advisor Responsible Investment at the Dutch asset manager PGGM. She is also a core member of the European Technical Expert Group on Sustainable Finance and the GRESB Infrastructure Advisory Board. Previously Brenda worked 10+ years as strategic advisor for the Dutch Finance Minister and the President of the Eurogroup, gaining deep expertise on European legislation and politics. In the expert group she combines this experience with her ESG expertise to contribute to a EU definition for “green” investments. At PGGM, Brenda works on the integration of sustainability in PGGM’s Infrastructure Fund. Driven by the ambition to create positive impact alongside financial returns.

Pablo Lutereau is the Region Head for S&P Global Infrastructure Ratings in Europe, Middle East & Africa. He leads a team of 15+ analysts based in London, Madrid, Paris, Dublin, Stockholm and Tel Aviv. Mr. Lutereau is based in Madrid. Prior to this position, Mr. Lutereau was the head of Infrastructure & Utilities for Latin America, based in Buenos Aires. In 2017, based in Hong Kong, Mr. Lutereau was the head for Infrastructure ratings in Asia Pacific.

Before joining S&P Global Ratings in 1997, Mr. Lutereau worked for the Secretaria de Programacion Economica in the Argentine Ministry of Economics.

Mr. Lutereau holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Universidad Catolica Argentina, a Master’s degree in Statecraft Sciences and a Master’s degree in Finance from CEMA Graduate School (Argentina).

John has advised a number of governments, intergovernmental organisations, and businesses on human rights and wider issues of sustainability, development, and international affairs. His most recent book is "The Social License”, published by Palgrave MacMillan in 2014, and he has published widely on issues relating to corporate responsibility, human rights, refugee protection, and human trafficking.

John also sits on the UK Foreign Secretary's Human Rights Advisory Group and has been a Harkness Fellow to the USA. In 2017, he was named one of the 100 most influential people worldwide on the issue of eliminating modern day slavery.

Peter Plaut is an Executive Director at Wimmer Family Office focused on origination, researching and structuring private debt and equity transactions across a broad range of industries including in the aerospace, energy, metals and mining, and real estate sectors. He also has an advisory business AEDS Advisors Ltd specializing in capital solutions to companies pursuing or defending litigation.
Mr. Plaut is consistently recognized as a leader in the industry. Among his many achievements and awards, he was ranked as one of the Top 20 Rising Stars of Hedge Funds during the 2008 financial crisis –a recognition of his ability to manage through crisis and create positive investment opportunities in all environments. Mr. Plaut's three decades of experience cover both the sell-side and buy-side as an analyst, portfolio manager, salesman and banker. Mr. Plaut operates globally sourcing, researching, negotiating and structuring capital markets transactions. He has been a lead banker on many successful capital raises, transactions, and consultative assignments with senior management teams and Boards of Directors. During the late 1990s, while employed at Salomon Brothers, Mr. Plaut served as Rating Advisor to the Republic of Korea and as a result of his work was extended an invitation for Term Membership to the Council on Foreign Relations.

Jean-Philippe Richaud is Managing Director and a member of the Executive Committee at SWEN Capital Partners, a European leader in Private Equity, Debt and Infrastructure for institutional and individuals clients. Valeria joined the business in 2006 and has two decades of relevant experience. Based in London, Valeria leads Equity asset management and is the joint portfolio manager of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group Pension Fund’s unlisted infrastructure mandate. She is the Chair of the Equity Investment Committee and a member of the firm’s global Executive Committee.

Valeria is a director on the boards of Porterbrook, Phoenix Natural Gas and Australian Registry Investments and, previously, also South East Water and AviAlliance Capital and has been involved in most of the acquisitions, disposals and mergers of the firm over the years.

Prior to joining Hastings, Valeria executed and advised on a large number of transactions at Gleacher Shacklock, Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Business and Economics (Honours) from the University L.U.I.S.S. Guido Carli in Rome.

Katrina was awarded an MBA with distinction from the London Business School in 2008 and has a degree in Mathematical Statistics and Operational Research from Exeter University. She recently completed the INSEAD Women Leadership Programme.

Simon joined the PRI in June 2018 as a Senior Manager, focusing on real assets, including infrastructure and forestry. He works with the investor community to support their understanding and implementation of responsible investment processes within different asset classes.

Prior to joining the PRI, Simon worked for over 10 years at Control Risks, where he led a team providing political and social risk advisory support to investors and corporate clients in Latin America. This often involved carrying out pre- or post-transaction due diligence based on on-the-ground research and interviews for major investments and operations in the region, as well as gap analyses on clients’ social risk management and governance frameworks.

Simon holds a MSc in Latin American Politics from the University of London (Institute for the Study of the Americas) and a BA in Modern Languages (French and Spanish) from the University of Bristol.

PRI

The PRI is the world’s leading proponent of responsible investment.It works to understand the investment implications of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and to support its international network of investor signatories in incorporating these factors into their investment and ownership decisions. The PRI acts in the long-term interests of its signatories, of the financial markets and economies in which they operate and ultimately of the environment and society as a whole.

The PRI is truly independent. It encourages investors to use responsible investment to enhance returns and better manage risks, but does not operate for its own profit; it engages with global policymakers but is not associated with any government; it is supported by, but not part of, the United Nations.

Carlisle White is CIP’s ESG Manager. Mr. White is responsible for developing and managing CIP’s sustainability framework, standards and reporting, and the integration of ESG throughout CIP’s investment process. Before moving to Denmark, Mr. White worked as a lawyer in Australia, where he spent time in both the commercial and energy and resources team at one of South Australia’s most respected commercial law firms. Mr. White holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Science (Geology) from the University of Adelaide.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners P/S (CIP) is a fund management company focused on energy infrastructure including offshore wind, onshore wind, solar PV, biomass and energy-from-waste, transmission and distribution, and other energy assets like reserve capacity and storage. CIP has approximately 110 employees. CIP and its projects have offices in Copenhagen, New York, Tokyo, London and Utrecht.

CIP manages five funds and has EUR ~7.8bn under management. CI I and CI A have PensionDanmark as founding- and sole investor, while CI II has 19 Danish and international institutional investors and CI III has 42 institutional investors from the Nordics, Continental Europe, the UK, Israel, Asia, Australia, and multi-lateral organizations e.g. EIB. The most recent fund, CI New Markets Fund I, reached its first close in May 2019 with USD 0.7bn in commitments from four cornerstone investors.

CIP was founded in 2012 by senior executives from the energy industry in cooperation with Pension Denmark.
